Description
Step into the heart of 19th-century British sporting life with "The Whissendine Appears in View," a dynamic etching and aquatint from the iconic "The Quorn Hunt Series." This highly sought-after Plate VII was masterfully drawn and etched by the celebrated Henry Alken (1785–1851) and exquisitely engraved by Frederick Christian Lewis (1779–1856). Published in February 1835 by the esteemed Rudolph Ackermann at his Eclipse Sporting Gallery in London, this framed piece captures a thrilling moment in a Leicestershire fox hunt. The print is enclosed in glass within a black frame with gold accents. Framed size: 28” x 22.5” Local pick-up in Dana Point, CA; cash or Zelle only! Happy to answer any questions.
