Description

I restored this chair around 20 years ago and has sat in the same place ever since. It has just been a conversation piece for visitors and something the grandkids used to like to sit and play on. No haircuts, either. It just sits there, looking pretty. The upholstery is in great condition, with no rips or tears. The backrest and seat cushion were also recovered at the time of my restoration. The only flaw it may have is on the left armrest (looking at the chair from the front) it has a chip in the porcelain about 1/4" in diameter. The chair is in fabulous working condition, the pump works great, and there are no leaks. The reclining mechanism works great, and the brake locks the height and rotating position as it should. The head rest is correct for the chair and has the original upholstery on it and looks good. The head rest also states it is from 1910, I believe that was the patent pending year for the head rest itself? But from my research, I believe the chair was built in and around the early 1920s. The chair is constructed mainly of cast iron and weighs in at around 260 lbs. Spent its life since restoration in a nurtured, non-smoking household.
