Sales, finance, managerial, and parts staff were friendly and responsive to my requests.  There was limited knowledge when it came to slide-in camper support.  However they were willing to help and listen to my needs.  Their financial dealings were very good and they made every effort to satisfy my requests. I had an amazing experience with Sunset Ford.  Caesar responded to my online inquiry and set an appointment.   Texting was easy communication.  He had the car I had inquired about ready to go.  When I felt it didn’t meet my needs, he had a list of 8 other cars that met my budget.  The price was great, the vehicle well vetted, and I loved the car. Where do I begin on this communication failure situation. I brought my vehicle in for a routine oil change at 9am. 45 minutes later, it was done; sounds routine but was far from it. I no more than got up the 410 hill into Bonney Lake and found smoke coming out of the engine and smelled it burning through the vents.

So I turned back around and brought it back to Sunset. Communication failure #1- The staff took it back in and then came out 30 mins later to say “the technician spilled oil on the intake and attempted to clean it up but didn’t get it all”..they took my vehicle for what would be “a couple hours” to “detail my engine bay” and make sure it was good to go. So why not do the right thing first and tell me before I leave with the truck and make the situation right at the start? Sunset gave me a rental…cool, doing their best to fix the problem and recover the situation, right? That’s where it gets worse..

Communication failure #2 - Having heard nothing all day for their “couple hours detail”, I called them after my work day at 4:15pm to find out what was going on..only to hear that they wanted to keep it overnight..again, why did I hear nothing back well prior to 4:15pm and Sunset didn’t proactively update me as a customer throughout the day?

Communication failure #3 - at 11am the next day, Sunset calls me and lets me know the truck is ready for pick up and the engine bay was “detailed”. I picked up my truck, popped the truck hood to see what was detailed and do a QC of what Sunset did and to no surprise, all they did was wipe most of the residual oil off and leave it as it was..dusty and all. I guess my expectations of a “detail” was to completely clean the engine bay like actually washing it..but that was not it.

Essentially, my experience says that Sunset service is poor in proactively communicating, poor in reporting safety issues before they occur to their customer, and poor in making the situation completely correct as a “detail” to them meant different to them than their customer.

Tammy in service is amazing.  She worked diligently with the service technician to solve a difficult persistent problem with my 2010 Explorer.  She helped me keep it on the road as long as possible.  When it was waiting for a part, she made sure I had transportation.  I highly recommend Tammy as your service consultant.

The time came to replace the Explorer.  183,000 miles and it was time.  Caesar answered my online inquiry for a replacement for my Explorer.  He had the car ready to show when I arrived for my appointment.  When it didn't meet my needs, he had a list of 8 other options that they had!  I was so impressed.  He knew a great deal about the car he showed me and got me hooked up for a test-drive.  I loved the car!  It had been prepared well and was in excellent shape.  Caesar valued my trade, and put together a great deal.  I was so grateful for a smooth and friendly process.

Financing was handled by Austin.  He was smooth and efficient.  We came across one glitch with my transaction to title the car in my company name.  Austin got it handled swiftly and professionally.  He is a wiz with the technology and the process was really fast!

Everyone I've even been in contact with this dealer, embodies the values and honesty that you look for in a business.  I cannot say enough about my experience here over the years, and especially with my experience a few days ago.  We are so blessed to have this gem in our community!
