Description

Art Deco Camphor Hand Blown Glass Ruffled Rim Glass Vase-Candle Holder 1920's RARE Lovely for a small vase or candle holder. 5" Tall x 4" W weighing 5 ounces. Doing some research, This may have been a Purfume bottle that may have had a topper/Stopper A thin rim of gold in just the right places! Selling as is & stating it as a Vase which is perfect for a small amount of flowers :) Good condition with no chips or cracks. Pontil on bottom. A Bit of History: Camphor glass is created by treating clear glass with hydrofluoric acid vapors, producing a frosted, whitish appearance. This frosted effect mimics the translucent quality of gum camphor, a natural resin historically used in various applications, Camphor glass became popular in the decorative arts during the late 19th & early 20th centuries, used for jewelry, lampshades, & bottles, among other items. This style resonated with the Art Deco movement, known for its geometric shapes and sophisticated aesthetics. Thank you for visiting :)
