Description

2003 Goldwing (ABS Model) 87,100 miles Located in Lacey, WA ---Firstly, I won't acknowledge "Is this still available" messages. Sorry. --- Yes, you can definitely pick up a poor-condition, bare bones, beat up Goldwing with tacky stick on plastic chrome for a couple grand less. As you shop around, you'll notice the asking prices range a lot. If you're the kind of person that would rather spend a little more for a much better bike, below are 3 reasons why you should choose mine, which I will expound on more later in the ad, as well as explain why I'm selling. P.S. - The sun hasn't shined much lately, so I haven't taken any glamor shots for this listing. I will add more pics soon, and you're always welcome to come see it in person. 1) It's an ABS (Anti Lock Brakes) model and is inherently more valuable, not to mention safer, especially in our often-wet weather. 2) It's one of those "The owner kept a log of every oil change and every maintenance item that was done at the correct intervals" bikes (see pics). It has been treated very well and is in fantastic mechanical condition. 3) It has thousands of dollars of upgrades, including heated grips and a $1,200 custom Corbin seat. - Expounding: 1) Just like a 4WD version of a truck is more valuable than the 2WD, ABS Goldwings (aside from being safer) are more expensive new, are more desirable, have higher blue book, and you'll see that most sellers are asking higher prices because of it. Even if you're a fairweather rider, our PNW will probably throw some surprise rain at you. ABS is going to keep you safer. 2) Almost all of the miles were put on by the original owner who was a meticulous person. He kept detailed maintenance records and did all of the items at the recommended intervals. You're not going to find that on many bikes, and it's hard to know how well someone kept up with stuff, even oil changes. To add credibility to the bike being VERY well cared for by the man who put most of the miles on... 3) He kept receipts showing almost $3,000 of upgrades right off the bat after already paying $17,500 for the bike itself. Later, a very nice $1,200 custom Corbin seat which ALSO helps shorter riders touch the ground better (by an inch or two, which is significant). And those are just the upgrades I know of based on receipts. There are several other bells & whistles that aren't part of that initial $3k upgrades, like a nice aftermarket windshield that is shorter and sportier. I really like it, because when you have the windshield adjusted all of the way down, it's way out of your visuals and lets a lot more air through. But at the highest adjustment, it still gives you all of the wind projection. There are also special controls for heated gear/jackets etc., iPod integration, a Speedo-healer a device which corrects the speedometer on bikes, just to name a couple other upgrades. Right from the factory, Goldwings read like 10% high on the speedo. For example: when speedo reads 70mph, you're actually only doing 63mph. That's the case for most bikes, 5-10% optimistic, and Goldwings are no exception, and probably all of the other bikes you're looking at are going to have that annoying little problem. So this is just another example of the original owner taking great care of the bike. I have a strong suspicion he did suspension upgrades, because it rides much tighter and sportier than my other Goldwing. People who think stock Goldwings ride too much like a Cadillac and want them to be a little sportier, funner to ride, (and safer!) they spend $2-3k+ for better suspension. Look up "Traxxion" suspension, which is the go-to upgrade for Goldwing riders. https://offerup.com/redirect/?o=aHR0cHM6Ly90cmF4eGlvbi5jb20vZ29sZHdpbmcv Based on how much $ the original owner sunk into the bike, I am wondering if he did the "The Full Monty", which is both Front & Back upgraded. But I don't know for sure. And for the POWER! (meaning, the engine pep & strength). Maybe it was the meticulous maintenance, maybe it was some sort of tuning or upgrade, but it is MUCH quicker and peppier than my other Goldwing. Seriously. I'll let you test ride both to compare. Why am I selling: I bought this Goldwing 18 months ago, and immediately my partner (who rides passenger with me and has hip & back issues) didn't enjoy riding on it because of the sportier suspension. She felt like when we hit bumps etc. in the road, it was impacting her harder than she'd like. So soon after test rode another Goldwing that was bone stock, and it rode more like a squishy Cadillac, so that became our "forever bike". That's it! That's the only reason I'm not hanging on to the bike. It seriously rides sportier, hugs the curves better, is much MUCH more fun to ride... but my sensitive passenger doesn't like it. I hung on to it for 18 months because I just couldn't bring myself to sell it until now. A part of me wanted to keep it as a 2nd bike to enjoy for sportier/funner rides by myself, but I ju
