Vintage Original Film Noir “Shakedown“ Linenbacked Poster (1950) (27”x41”)

This is a vintage original poster for the 1950 Universal Pictures crime film noir “Shakedown” starring Howard Duff (husband & co-star of Ida Lupino in a number of film noirs & crime dramas during their marriage in the 1950s), Peggy Dow & Lawrence Tierney. This quite good film noir with shadings of the “Nightcrawler” with Jake Gyllenhaal involves an unscrupulous & opportunistic San Francisco news media photographer who steps on & uses folks to get ahead, but in the end he tangles with the wrong people. This original, vintage & authentic One Sheet (27" X 41") poster for the 1950 film “Shakedown” was in fine to very fine condition prior to restoration. The poster had pinholes some of which were repaired with tape on verso. In addition, it had separation at cross-folds & fold edges also backed by tape. Professional restorers carefully removed tape without damaging poster & filled in missing color & paper along vertical fold line. Some of the horizontal foldlines are still visible. While further restoration could be done to those foldlines, this colorful poster with excellent noir artwork displays quite well. See photos. There's quite a bit to this humdinger of a noir with a nutritious blend of intrigue, guns & dames plus a dash of humor sprinkled in. The intrepid but amoral news photographer has all kinds of ambition and aspirations for the high life - & with a bit of cleverness, has every intention of achieving it. On the way, he is also not immune to feminine wiles, which fuel his trajectory to success even more. If that wasn't enough, Lawrence Tierney turns up at some point, ever the vicious low-life with his goons not far behind.
