Description
Vintage ice crusher has a wooden crank handle and is believed to have been made sometime between the 1880’s and the 1930’s. It was manufactured by the Alaska Freezer Co. of Winchendon and is the No. 1 model. Used in homes, hotels and bars to crush small blocks of ice. The crushed ice was used in drinks, to make homemade ice cream, or to keep food cold. It is in good looking and good working condition with typical cosmetic wear. Cast into the side is ''Alaska Ice Crusher, Winchendon, Mass., No.1''. Inside are the numbers 21 and 25, and also IC31 on the wheel and IC26 on the inside chopper hub. It features nickel plated cast iron for easy cleaning, can be mounted on any horizontal surface with the four slits/holes on each leg. It measures approximately 13''x8''x11'' and is heavy at 20 lbs. When the wheel is turned with its attached wooden handle, the thick, sharp spikes inside will crush the ice which then falls through the bottom. This is an awesome, unique old piece for display or as a cool conversation piece.
