Description
Each 1-gallon pot is a mix of at least 10 well-rooted stems of the edibles Longevity Spinach (Gynura Procumbens) and Okinawa Spinach (Gynura Crepioides). Others sell 2-3 unrooted stems of only one variety for $12, but mine are a fraction of that price (3-4 times as much for 30% cheaper). Mine are not only far cheaper, but they are well-established plants fully rooted in quality soil (not new cuttings in yard dirt). Longevity Spinach and Okinawa Spinach are two species of the same genus, which is why they look almost the same and grow well together in the same pots. Scientific studies show eating them regularly significantly reduces Type 2 Diabetes by neutralizing bad cholesterol, which is why they are nicknamed "Cholesterol Spinach" (search that on Google to find the studies for proof). Both plants are also high in Protein, Calcium, Iron, Potassium, and Vitamins A and C. Both have a mild taste that is good raw in salads, sandwiches, etc. and can also be cooked the same ways as other spinach (sauté, steam, stir-fry, etc.). Gynura is also among the best edible plants for Florida, since they can handle both the extreme heat and the occasional dips to freezing. Just click my account photo to see other plants including other edibles (more are added regularly throughout Spring and Summer).
