This item includes five (5) framed antique maps titled: (1) “L'AFRICA divisa NE SUOI PRINCIPALI STATI Di Nuova Projezione,” (2) “AUSTRALASIA,” (3) “L’ EUROPE,” (4) “ZUID-AMERIKA,” and (5) “‘T ONTZET VAN LEYDEN.” Additional Details (1) “L'AFRICA divisa NE SUOI PRINCIPALI STATI Di Nuova Projezione” (translates to “AFRICA divided INTO ITS PRINCIPAL STATES of new projection”): A colored map of Africa published in “VENEZIA 1776. Preffo Antonio Zatta Con Privilegio dell' Eco Senato" (translates to “VENICE 1776. At the Establishment of Antonio Zatta, With the Privilege of the Most Excellent Senate”) and engraved by “Z. Zuliani” and the “scribe” was “Ab. V. Formaleoni” *This map is part of Antonio Zatta's "Atlante Novissimo," one of the last great decorative atlases of the 18th century. Frame: Approx. 18 3/8” x 21 5/8” x 3/4” Map Condition: Very Good (minor crease on left side) (2) “AUSTRALASIA”: A colored map of Australasia with Australia labeled “Notasia or New Holland” … “From Mr. Arrowsmith’s Chart of the Pacific Ocean” … “Published by A. Constable & Co. Edinburgh, 1816” and engraved by “SY Hall” *This map is a section of Aaron Arrowsmith's monumental “Chart of the Pacific Ocean,” first published in 1798 and considered the most authoritative and up-to-date depiction of the Pacific and Australia during its time.  Frame: Approx. 13 1/4” x 15 3/4” x 5/8” Map Condition: Very Good/Excellent (3) “L’ EUROPE” (translates to “EUROPE”): A map of Europe with colored borders by “Par M. BONNE, Ingénieur-Hydrographe de la Marine” (translates to “Engineer-Hydrographer of the Navy”) and engraved by “André” *This map showcases the political and geographical features of Europe in the late 18th century, including distinct borders and regions. Frame: Approx. 13 3/4” x 18” x 5/8” Map Condition: Very Good/Excellent (4) “ZUID-AMERIKA” (translates to “SOUTH AMERICA”): A map of South America by “D. Noothoven van Goor” published in “Leiden” and engraved by “J.C. Zurcher” *This map features six insets located in the corners, providing detailed views of specific areas within South America. Frame: Approx. 24 1/4” x 20 1/4” x 5/8” Map Condition: Good - original centerfold (minor scuff mark on bottom and some discoloration spots) (5) “‘T ONTZET VAN LEYDEN” (translates to “THE RELIEF Of LEIDEN”): This map depicts the Relief of Leiden, a pivotal moment during the Eighty Years’ War when the Spanish siege of the Dutch city of Leiden was broken on October 3, 1574. *This bird’s-eye view shows Leiden at the top with the Sea Beggars in boats advancing towards the city, and includes depictions of pigeons carrying messages and examples of the emergency paper money used during the siege.
