Description
Novelty wind-up mantle clock manufactured by Tezuka Clock Co. (under their "Poppo Clock" brand) in Occupied Japan. Tezuka was one of the firs companies that occupying powers allowed to reopen after the war, as such, they had a headstart on the market. They began selling novelty clocks with eyes timed to the second hand movement, such as this item, in 1946 before branching out to include cuckoo clocks in 1949. They closed in the 1970s, leaving behind a post-war legacy and example of Japan's tenacity and (pun intended) doggedness. This piece features a spaniel-type dog with animated eyes that move to the ticking of the second hand; it is in an unknown workin condition Shoot an offer!
