ANTIQUE OAR (circa 1920s-1930s) Ted Shea- Foxboro, Mass. Maker of sculling oars used by the majority of university teams competing in the 1935 national championship races at Poughkeepsie, NY. The winner, University of Washington (featured in the movie "Boys In A Boat) went on to win the gold medal in 1936 Berlin Olympics. Provenance (best guess). *Ted Shea, maker - Foxboro, Mass. *Harry Miller - Deseased 2021. Alexandria, Va. Rowed crew at Cornell *Don Robinson- Alexandria, Va. Rescued the oar during demolishion of Mr. Miller's chilhood home on Southdown Rd. Oar was restored by Robinson and donated to the West Potomac crew holiday fund raiser. ( ebay value $ 900.00 - $1,200). The money made on this sale will go right to the West Potomac HS crew team’s expenses.
