Japanese Late Edo Period Porcelain Bowl — Mark Referenced in Kyushu Ceramic Museum Catalog #147 Beautiful Japanese bowl dating to the late Edo period (early–mid 19th century), featuring an elaborate polychrome decoration in rich cobalt blue, turquoise, iron-red, and gilt. The interior is especially striking, with densely painted auspicious motifs, stylized clouds, flowers, and ornamental designs, while the exterior features flowing botanical and geometric decoration. The bowl bears a distinctive blue hand-painted mark on the base, corresponding to catalog example #147 (“清”) in the Kyushu Ceramic Museum reference material illustrating Japanese ceramic marks from the Edo period. The combination of finely painted decoration, elegant form, and intricate interior ornamentation makes this an excellent example of late Edo-period Japanese ceramics and a particularly attractive piece for collectors of Japanese porcelain. Condition: Excellent original condition. No chips or cracks. Minor signs of wear consistent with age and use. Dimensions: 6.5” diameter × 3 3/4” high.
