Description

FOR SALE: 2007 Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R Engine (ZX600P) - FOR PARTS / REBUILD - SEIZED Condition: AS-IS / FOR PARTS OR REBUILD ONLY Location: Sacramento, CA Price: [See Recommendation Below] Up for sale is a 2007 Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R (ZX600P) engine. I received this engine for free from a friend and was initially planning to diagnose and potentially use it, but I've discovered issues that are beyond my current skill set. My goal is to be completely honest about its condition and find someone who can use it for parts or has the expertise for a full rebuild. Background: * This was the original engine from a 2007 ZX6R, which was replaced by the dealer a few years ago due to a manufacturer recall campaign. * My friend stated it was running when pulled (approx. 3 years ago), but he noted it "definitely wasn't running well." * It was stored covered, but outdoors, for approximately 3 years before I received it. Known Issues & Diagnostics (Please Read Carefully): * ENGINE IS SEIZED: I have attempted to turn the engine over by hand using the crankshaft end access, and it will not turn. It appears to be seized internally. * BROKEN SPARK PLUG (Piston Impact Suspected): Upon inspection, one of the four spark plugs was found broken/smashed. (See included photo). It appears likely this was caused by piston impact, which could indicate a serious timing issue, connecting rod failure, or other internal damage. The tip/electrode portion of this spark plug is presumed to be somewhere inside that cylinder. * TRANSMISSION OUTPUT SHAFT: This shaft (where the front sprocket mounts) does turn about one full revolution in either direction before hitting a hard stop, which is consistent with the engine being seized while in gear. * INTERNAL CONDITION UNKNOWN / POTENTIAL CORROSION: * The three intact spark plugs showed surface rust, indicating moisture was present in the wells. * Looking into the intake/exhaust ports, some visible valve stems show significant surface rust. * It appears two cylinders had valves closed (likely better sealed), while two had valves open. These cylinders with open valves may have internal rust or debris. Assume internal corrosion exists. * GASKETS LIKELY OLD: When using penetrating oil on the spark plugs, some weeping was observed from the clutch cover gasket, indicating gaskets are likely old/dry and would need replacement. What Has Been Done: * Exterior Cleaning: The engine exterior has been significantly cleaned using degreasers, wire wheels/brushes, and compressed air. * Spark Plug Wells Cleaned: Wells were cleaned out (prior to discovering the broken plug) using contact cleaner, compressed air, and nylon brushes. * Connectors Cleaned: Visible electrical connectors on the attached wiring have been cleaned with QD Electrical Contact Cleaner. What's Included: * Engine long block (Cylinder Head, Block, Crankcase) as pictured. * Throttle Bodies & Fuel Rail (attached). * Starter Motor (attached). * Clutch Cover, Stator Cover, Oil Pan (attached). * Oil Filter (attached). * Partial wiring harness sections (as pictured). * Sold exactly as shown in photos. Summary: This engine requires a full teardown and rebuild or should be considered strictly for parts. Due to the seized crankshaft and broken spark plug inside, assume there is significant internal damage. However, many external components, casings, the clutch, and potentially transmission gears could be valuable to the right person. I'm an honest seller, not an experienced motorcycle mechanic. I've described everything I've found to the best of my ability. Please feel free to ask questions or request more specific pictures, and I'll do my best to provide them. Sold strictly AS-IS, WHERE-IS. No warranties, no guarantees, no returns. Buyer assumes all responsibility.
