Description
In the Depression years, before the Manhattan Project, glassmakers used small amounts of uranium oxide in their products, giving them a lovely green color as well as increased strength, and making them ideal for everyday objects like kitchenware. Hazel Atlas of Wheeling WV was the third most prolific manufacturer in the Depression years, but stopped using Uranium in its products when the Manhattan Project commandeered the entire US uranium supply. This glass syrup pitcher with its tin spring lid was quite popular in the day but getting much harder for collectors to find. No chips or cracks, tin lid in typical condition for its age. 6”x3 1/2”. Best displayed in front of a UV light, several inexpensive LED models available on Amazon.
