King Red Vintage 1970's??? Solid Life Sized Nutcracker

Check out this Vintage Nutcracker. Just in time for Christmas. It’s approximately 6’ tall and made in the old German Democratic Republic. Dating the nutcracker has been hard. We know that it’s older than 1990 and believe it may have been made in the 70’s. It was built in the village of Gahlenz on the Erzgebirge Mountains in Germany. When reaching out to a factory in Gahlenz, they suggested that Holzkunst Gahlenz is the manufacturer of this Nutcracker. Collectors in the Facebook world have also said they go by RuT Gahlenz - Raum und Tafelschmuck Gahlenz. In searching for similarly aged to modern solid Nutcrackers. I can only find them in Museums or apart of large private collector of Nutcrackers. Customers of Coast To Coast Pawn remember seeing these Nutcrackers lining the streets of New York by Rockefeller Tower during Christmas decades ago. Maybe this Nutcracker was one of them or perhaps it greeted Christmas Shoppers at a predominant Toy Store back in the day. The manufacturer Holzkunst Gahlenz or RuT Gahlenz is considered the best manufacturer of Nutcrackers and Christmas Pyramids in the World. If you want a professionally built Nutcracker and willingly to wait a long time for it. Than this is the place to go. When reaching out to them to find out what it would cost to get a new one made today. Apparently if you have to ask, you can't afford it. Because I didn't get a reply. And they do not list pricing in their order catalog. There is obvious evidence that it has been repaired at least once in it's life. Still a very nice piece and in fair condition for its age. Enjoy having a conversation starter during the holidays whose craftmanship is usually only found in museums
