Beautiful Vintage Peruvian Charango Guitar 10-String–Armadillo Shell–Chachapoyas,1960's

Additional images

Description

This rare and striking vintage charango originates from Peru, from the Chachapoyas region, a highland area known for its rich Andean musical traditions and handcrafted instruments. With its detailed woodwork and genuine armadillo shell back, this charango represents a traditional style that is now largely extinct in international trade due to wildlife protection laws. 10 steel strings, arranged in 5 courses. Real armadillo shell back, no longer legal for export, which makes this one already in the U.S., a very valuable item as there will be no more. A real collector's item for South American or musical enthusiasts from around the world!  Sorry, no international shipping available due to wildlife material content. Real armadillo shell back, no longer legal for export. Intricate inlaid rosette and edge detailing. Wood soundboard with fine grain and warm tones. Original older vintage tuning gears with slotted headstock. Estimated age: 1960s–1970s Made in Peru, from the Chachapoyas region with deep ties to traditional Andean lutherie. This instrument is both playable and collectible.  This item would make a great addition to any musician’s folk or world instrument collection. As-is, it's also a beautiful conversation piece and a cultural artifact that reflects the craftsmanship and heritage of the Peruvian Andes. Important Note on Legal Import Restrictions: Due to modern international wildlife regulations (such as CITES), charangos made with real armadillo shells can no longer be legally imported into the United States or many other countries. This makes vintage examples like this one increasingly rare and valuable to collectors and folk music enthusiasts alike. Approximate Measurements (please measure and insert if needed): Length: [23 inches] Width: [5.5 inches] Depth: [2.5 inches] A unique opportunity to own a piece of Andean cultural heritage that cannot be found new or imported today!
