Description
This antique Royal Doulton figurine is Tiny Tim, the beloved character from Charles Dickens’ 1843 story A Christmas Carol. Tim is made of bone china and painted by hand, with the “Doulton England” and “Tiny Tim” and “18” stamps on the base. Dickens’ Tim, a disabled — and happy — child, walked with a crutch. The figurine has remarkable detail: Tim, dressed in a black shirt and brown trousers, has a gray scarf around his shoulders and holds a single crutch in his left hand. The Dickens figurines were made between 1922 and 1983, but I believe this is from the 1930s (possibly 1928) because it stood in my grandmother’s china cabinet and she was born in 1895. Perfect condition, lovingly cared for. Dimensions: 4” L x 1.5” W.
