Up for sale is a piece of stone artwork, which is known as Shona sculpture. It is named after the tribe of people in Zimbabwe, Africa. These sculptors receive no technical artistic training, and the art form is passed down by family and friends. They primarily use primitive tools such as a hammer and chisel. The themes of the sculptures generally represent everyday living in Shona society. Shona stone sculpture have become a modern movement. These pieces can be found in art museums, galleries, private and public collections worldwide. Title: Family of Four Medium: Serpentine Stone Dimensions: 8" H x 3.5" W x 2.5"D Condition Notes: As seen noted in photos, there is a slight discoloration on a part of the piece. Also there is a small piece of the base that is missing, but does not affect the ability to stand. There are also some minor scratches.
