Description

All you heavy duty or even light duty sewing machine operators. A vintage Singer 78-3 with table, light, bobbin winder and double thread stand. This baby is like 65 plus years old. It was my father who used it until his death in 1996. Has sewn many a chair, tractor seat, rain coat, hunting coats in its time. I'm 68 and my dad has used it since I was born. Works great. It has a table, lamp, bobbin winder, thread stand. But no drawer was gone in the past. Has sat at my mother's where has also been used by brother, me and nephew since his death 28 years ago. Now my mother has moved on and left this with me to get more uses out of. Well being 68 myself don't really sew too much any more. And no way giving it to Brother or Nephew they took advantage of my mother and my passed away father and still do today. So to keep with her wish looking for someone to keep this machine in action. So up for sale. As is. Can't deliver without taking apart and not able to lift . It is very heavy. So you would have to come pick it up. Then you can see it in all its glory then decide on taking apart if you want. Believe me it is heavy but then it is a heavy duty sewing machine. Sewing load of Naughty Hide upholstery material in its time. Even have sewn leather. Good useful machine. Used it a lot as I was growing up. Motorcycle seat. Leather jacket repairs. Leather bandana. Did a lot but age and time has caught up with me. Well hoping someone out there sees this and knows how good these machine where. Though discontinued and like 30,000 even made in Elizabeth, New Jersey. This one was made in 1923 ish by serial number. Not sold for commercial use was a industrial machine. Upholstery and canvas its specialties, no reverse, heavy duty thread better than #16. But don't let that scare you off it will see anything. All types of materials. Patches to jeans etc. This one still sees the signs of going on for way longer. Asking 500.00... What you see is what you get .. yep that thread also(showing type of spools at the same time)Black is what normally used. But that white is older and not as strong barely used on this machine but was left with it so going with it. eBay has one for 385.00 that looks way worse than this one and no table and not even sure if it works. And mine even has instructions, works and has a table, lamp, still threaded so can easily follow rethreading, a bobbin winder, bobbin, Foot pump or hand operation, Heavy duty motor. Walking foot but no under feed dog which is supposedly the reason for limitations on light sewing. Long stitches up to 3" Has it all except someone to operate. So looking for that sewing passion in someone to put this baby back to what it was made for....Sewing not just looking like it could. 500.00.... must pick up.... That is in a nut shell not much more than that.
