Description

Antique and rare double inkwell, also known as a "calamaio" in Italian. 1800’s antique inkwell set, from the 19th century, featuring two glass ink pots, one white and one blue, held in an ornate metal stand.  Inkwells like these were popular desk accessories. The stand is made of cast metal with decorative scrollwork.  The inkwells themselves are made of glass, possibly hand-blown, and are designed to tilt, likely for easy access to the ink. decorative items for a desk or home, blending classic and modern styles.   • The term "calamaio" comes from the Italian word for squid, "calamari," referencing the ink-like substance squids produce This is a very cool piece of history.
