Things like… ✅ 50 year rated exterior panels. They look like regular wood panels, but they’re impregnated with waxes and resins, then treated with zinc borate… Why is that important? So your shed’s panels never rot, swell, or warp. They’re moisture, mold, insect, and termite resistant… and pre-primed in a natural tan color, ready for paint. ✅ 25 year maintenance free PVC trim. When other builders use pine trim, it’s usually the first thing to rot away. With PVC you don’t have that problem. Plus it comes in white. It looks great. It never rots, and it cleans up with soap and water. It also never requires painting, and it’s naturally unappetizing to insects and termites. ✅ Lifetime paint jobs. I know what you’re thinking. “Lifetime paint job? Really? Is that even a thing?” I thought that too. But Sherwin Williams “Emerald Rain Refresh” exterior paint is pretty impressive… it’s the best paint they make. Sherwin calls it a “lifetime paint,” and they give it a limited lifetime warranty. It’s right on their website, and it’s printed on the paint can. Feel free to look it up. It’s made with a hydrophobic polymer so dirt washes away upon contact with water (like rain). Rain refreshes the paint, thus the name "Rain Refresh." Pretty cool. It’s the most durable exterior paint available. We haven’t seen any other shed builder offering this. You don’t have to have us paint your shed, but if you do, we’ll pre-paint your panels at our shop. Less mess and cleanup at your place that way. (“Unpainted” sheds are primed in a neutral tan color, with white PVC trim.) You also get… ✅ 3/4” thick resin-infused moisture resistant flooring The OSB or plywood floors other builder use get wavy and buckle when exposed to moisture. We use a product called Advantech. It's been called a "50 year shed floor" It’s basically a heavy slab of resin-infused wood, designed to repel moisture. Makes for a quiet, stiff, heavy duty floor. The manufacturer gives it a limited lifetime warranty. ✅ Lifetime-rated architectural shingles with a 20 year algae resistant coating Most sheds have cheaper 3-tab shingles on the roof, good for 8-12 years. We use only lifetime-rated architectural shingles. They are thicker, more durable, better looking, and have a 600% wider double laminated nailing area so they stick to your roof like glue. They’re designed to last 3-4 times longer than standard 3-tab shingles. Plus the manufacturer says they’re the only shingles on the market with an “unlimited wind load warranty” ✅ Full 2x6 treated floor joists, every 16” Some builders use galvanized steel floor joists, spaced every 24”. People who buy them complain their floors feel “bouncy.” Plus the galvanized coating can get scratched during installation, leaving the underlying steel to rust. So… We only use 30 year ground contact rated pressure treated lumber floor joists… and we only use full 2x6’s (no 2x4's or smaller lumber). We install them every 16 inches on center, so your floor is rock solid. We also level your shed on solid concrete blocks. That keeps your joists out of the mud and allows airflow under your shed to keep things dry. It should also extend the lifespan of your floor joists even longer than the 30 year rating. ✅ Full 2x4 wall studs Some builders use 2x3’s or even 1x2’s to save costs. We only use full 2x4’s when building your walls. ✅ Locking double doors, with a key So you can keep your belongings safe. ✅ Screened gable vents They keep your shed cooler in the summer. They are also screened to keep the bugs out. They allow rising hot air to escape, and the added airflow ensures you don’t develop moisture or mold problems inside your shed.
