Description
There are two memorial buttons, and were found on a Tyrolean jacket, purchased in 1970. Hofer was a folk hero in the Austrian province of Tyrol, where he led the resistance against Napoleon’s army in the early 19th century. He was executed at Napoleon’s orders in 1809. In the center right of the button is a portrait of Andreas Hofer, and on the left is the eagle crest of Tyrol. Buttons are in very good, “vintage” condition. Circumference is 1”.
