Description
The Liberty Head nickel was designed by Charles E. Barber, the Chief Engraver of the United States Mint. It was minted at the Philadelphia Mint. The coin gets its informal name, "V nickel," from the large Roman numeral V (five) on the reverse side, which stands for five cents.
