VINTAGE ROBINSON RANSBOTTOM #2 CROCK USA CROWN MARK D

Vintage 2 Gallon Crock manufactured by the Ransbottom Bros. Pottery Company . This company was founded by Alfred Ransbottom. In 1902, his sons purchased a small plant and produced, almost exclusively, pottery and stoneware. The company was merged with the Robinson Clay Products Company in 1924 and the firm became known as The Robinson Ransbottom Pottery Company or RRP for short. This crown mark was the only one known to be used by this company, although they filed for its registration in 1919, they claimed its usage on stoneware since 1910. The Blue Crown Mark contains the number 2 within a circle and USA underneath. The mark appears on one side only. The crock is cream in color on the outside and a nice deep rich dark brown glaze on the inside. It measures at approximately 9" tall x 9 3/4" in diameter. T are no cracks on the outside or in. T is "pitting" which seems to have been done during manufacturing as t is glaze within these areas. T is a chip out of the bottom on the front (please see picture) but only adds to its character. This item is in very good used condition and would be a very nice item to add to your primitive or crock collection. Thank you for looking.
