Alocasia scalprum Aka: Samar lance, Scalpel Plant This plant is native to the wet rainforests of the Philippines, where it can be found growing in the understory, beneath trees. At maturity it can grow 2-4 feet tall and 2-3 feet wide. Its indoor height will be closer to 18 inches tall, which is still considerably tall for a houseplant. The leaves, beautiful and leathery, can grow 6 to 10 inches long and about 4” inches wide. The corms will be shipped in the small container shown in the last photo. There will be one corm per container, planted in sphagnum moss. Water every other day with a couple of tablespoons of water, just enough to keep the moss moist (not soggy). Wait until the sapling with leaves appear before transplanting to soil. Easy as 1-2-3.
