Produced for Prince Macaroni of Lowell, Massachusetts, during the midcentury heyday of promotional ceramics. Fascinating Fun Facts • Prince Pasta Co. was begun by immigrants in 1912 in Boston's North End and moved to Lowell, MA in 1941. Remember the slogan: "Wednesday is Prince spaghetti day!" Lowell became known as "Spaghettiville". It was sold and eventually closed in the 1990s and is now absorbed into New World Pasta. At the end it was briefly called Prince Macaroni Co. • Prince Macaroni Company (yes, the pasta brand!) commissioned Italian ceramics as gifts and promotions in the 1950s–60s. • These sets were often given away with bulk orders of pasta or sold at a discount through catalogs.
