Utilize the sturdy shelf in ways the original factory cover cannot provide. I made the Matrix Deck Shelf to replace the factory floppy cover so I could utilize the cargo space behind the back seats better. It is great for security and privacy as it hides the items in your cargo area really well. It also acts as a top shelf so you can have items above as well as below. These fit my 2004 Toyota Matrix. These should fit all 2003 -2008 models. The deck shelf is made of sturdy 3/4 plywood. The top is covered in a soft, carpet like fabric. The edge of the wood is trimmed out with black plastic t-molding for a finished look. The bottom side has a couple coats of Polyurethane to act as a sealer. I installed hardware that allows the shelf to drop into the existing cargo area brackets quickly, without tools. The hardware also allows you to use the factory cargo nets. I made it primarily for security reasons but it has become a great add-on to my Matrix for other uses. It helps keep the car organized and clean looking.
