Description
First, if you want to get an idea of what's going on here, go watch this video - https://offerup.com/redirect/?o=aHR0cHM6Ly95b3V0dS5iZS9xMUNtNmtxc3NXST9zaT1ZdUxnQzA0TkVLMUcxaXhl This is where I first got the idea, and the Retro Tech Dad does a great job of showing you everything that's possible with a setup like this. Now, if you watched that, or if you're just intrigued by the title and the pictures you see, let me explain what this is. The DS generation of consoles are one of the most treasured and beloved in gaming, handheld or otherwise. Between the backwards compatibility with the previous generation of GameBoy handhelds, and the amazing library of games and the clever game designs that implemented dual screens and the stylus, for a lot of people their favorite games reside on the DS family of consoles. This is how I've always felt; I loved my DS, DSi, and 3DS games, so even after Nintendo stopped supporting the consoles, I kept a DS of some sort around. Hacked, modded, running custom firmwares, these handhelds provided me with countless hours of entertainment. But I was always looking for a way to make it better. The 3DS XL's finally got bigger screens. The later models use better LCD panels. But ultimately, we were stuck with pretty low resolution, low quality screens. And also stuck on hardware that was very limited, and pretty frail (ever crack one of the hinges on a DS?) Then I discovered Retro Tech Dad's video. And that brings us to this setup. Microsoft's Surface Duo phone was not well received as a phone. But once the emulation community got ahold of it, they turned it into so much more than it could have ever aspired to. Turn it sideways, clamp it into a controller grip, and the 5.6", 1350x1800 AMOLED screens turn into a 3DS gamers dream. And with the Snapdragon 855 and 6GB of RAM, this thing runs DS and 3DS games at 2x, 3x, even 4x upscaled resolutions, and with other effects to make the games look EVEN BETTER! You can add high res texture packs, activate cheats, mod those sometimes awkward control schemes to fit the controller grip... 3DS games on this things are absolutely amazing! I've included pictures of Mario, Zelda, and Pokemon, some of the most popular franchises, but many other games work on this device. I do want to warn you... because it is emulation, it does not work with 100% of games. Do some research if there's a title that's an absolute deal breaker for you. But I've found that 99% of my favorite titles play and look like a dream on this setup. If you're looking at the price, go and see what a used Surface Duo goes for on ebay or elsewhere. Then add the NACON MG-X controller. Then take into consideration that I've downloaded the emulators, set them up, added the ROMS... you're getting a lot for this price. The only reason I'm selling it is because I recently got a Surface Duo 2! This Surface Duo is cracked on the back glass, but I've covered that with a skin (you can see the cracks under the skin in the last 2 pics). But the internal screens are in mint condition and look amazing. Comes with a charger, and the NACON MG-X is in excellent condition and uses the same charger
