Description
This outstanding surveying instrument is used to measure degrees, find percentage of grade, and find topographic elevation in the construction and related industries. This instrument has a split viewfinder/eyepiece which allows the user to see a distant marking stick and see the elevation angle at the same time. This piece is a pocket size, rather unusual for surveying equipment. The large brass screw can be loosened to allow the user to fix the elevation in degrees. The movable degree scale has a built in bubble level. The degree scale is moved with a finely geared thumbscrew. The instrument comes in a leather case which is clearly marked "Dietzgen". The instrument itself is also marked Dietzgen, although the wording is partially obscured by the black metal coating. This instrument is in outstanding condition, as is the case which has a belt loop for attaching the instrument to a belt. This instrument would make an outstanding addition to any surveying collection, or fine instrument collection. It measures 6 1/2" in length, and is 2 1/2" high. This is a marvelous instrument, in near mint condition.
