This is a stunning Chinese scholars, scroll pot that is carved out of a solid single trunk of Tielimu wood. You cannot find trees like this anymore especially ones that can actually be carved. Quite a unique item and it is very well-made. Has a plug in the bottom to prevent the pot from cracking. The end grain at the top of the pot has some light hairline checking from the wood drying out over the years. There is also a plug in the side of it from when it was made, I believe where there was probably a knot. Very well-made and quite well preserved. Had some minor scratches/things on the base of it, but there’s just cosmetic, and can be polished out if needed. Came from the private collection of my mentor and he has been collecting since the 1980s.
