Talks of his travels, breaking his foot, not having enough finances. Good content about those days. Transcribed below Oct 6 1847 Jacksonville, IL to NYC Missionary Report Rev. Milton Badger Dr Br, I have little to talk about in this letter but broken bones. Circumstances ____ to direct my course for a few weeks after commencement ____ and I accordingly ____ in the direction. While at Granville, in attempting to get some hay from the loft? of a hog stable I lost my hold and jumping to save myself from falling. I struck a small stump with my right foot which _____ the whole force of my _____ and broke the small bone wrenching my ankle sadly. For two months I was laid aside. For one month part I have been engaged in ________ not far distant respecting? which I have nothing special to write. I think that I remarked in a former letter that the monies credited to the Pres. Ch. of Quincy were paying in full to constitute Rev. Mr. Marks - a life Director. ______ Pres Ch Jacksonville to Constitute Rev. Thomas Laurie of Mt. Lebanon, Syria - a life director or - 102.00 To Pres Ch. Clayton to Constitute Rev. Reuben M' Coy a life member - $24.12 The ____ Ch at Mendon? had succumbed $27.00 Page 2 and the cong. (congregation) of Waverly 37.00 but neither of the last two have paid over their subscription? Rev.
