Description

Marantz 2385 Receiver/Amplifier (1978) with WC-124 Case & DLB-1 FM Decoder Vintage powerhouse, manufactured June 6, 1978. Includes original WC-124 case and DLB-1 FM decoder, along with a large remnant of the original Marantz cardboard box. Key Features: Powerful Amplifier: 185W per channel at 8 Ohms 240W per channel at 4 Ohms Connectivity: 2x Tape In, 2x Phono, Aux inputs - all tested and working. 2x Tape Out, Pre Out, and Dubbing Out are untested. Headphones (6.3mm jack), 2 pairs of speaker inputs - all tested and working. FM/AM antenna inputs Dimensions: 19.3" W x 7" H x 17.3" D Weight: 58.4 lbs (more with case) Vintage Condition: All functions (inputs, phono, tape, aux, headphones) appear to be working. Minor crackle when adjusting the mode and the tone settings. Seems at a level where contact cleaner might remedy. Condition & Notable Flaws: Missing balance knob: The tip of the slider arm for the balance control is broken off but still functional. DLB-1 FM Decoder: The plastic bracket inside the 2385 case holding the DLB-1 is cracked but the decoder cartridge itself is intact and working fine. The bracket looked like it could be lined up along crack and glued. Missing the handle plate that goes over the DLB-1 receptacle. Cosmetic wear: Volume numbers on the faceplate show some wear. A few scratches and overall cosmetic wear on the unit and case. The wooden case has some chipped spots (see photos) and wear. Plastic slide-in grommets for the case: Two are missing. One is cracked and loose. All screws are present. Plastic feet: One is cracked, but all the original feet are still present. Extras: Includes the original WC-124 wooden cabinet and DLB-1 FM decoder. Cardboard box remnant for collectors (optional). Sounds fantastic and with a little TLC and recapping, could be restored to its full glory.
