Middle Eastern Vintage 1940s Set Of 2 Silverplated Footed Repousse Plates, 6.5” Great vintage condition consistent with its age. Pictures are part of the description, please check them & let me know if you require additional ones. These plates have a beautiful repousse design and a lovely aged patina. The detailing and shape are strongly reminiscent of Persian Isfahan silverwork — these are not sterling, but they absolutely have the vibe. No markings that we can find. Slightly different center medallion design - these were likely handmade in a small workshop. Fascinating Fun Facts: • “Repoussé” is the technique of hammering from the reverse side to raise a design on metal — you can see it beautifully here. • Isfahan is a historic Persian city known for its master metalworkers. • These are brass or another base metal with a silver wash.
