For sale is a very rare & valuable 1878-CC Morgan Silver Dollar graded and certified by NGC as AU-58. The CC mint mark on Morgan Silver Dollars comes from the Carson City Mint. The Morgan Silver Dollar is arguably the most collected coin in the world, and the Carson City coins are the most sought after and most valuable of all the Morgans. One reason is because the Carson City Mint was only in operation for about 19 years, and only minted Morgans for 13 years. Another reason is because coins minted in Carson City had very low mintages. And lastly, the Carson City mint has a very seedy reputation in that they were known for their corruption and sloppiness which ultimately led to them being shut down. This sorted past is what makes any CC coin instantly rare, valuable, and in demand. What makes this one so great is 1878 is the very first year they minted Carson City Morgan Dollars. The first of any coin series is always the most sought-after. But to be the very first CC makes it more so ten times over! And what makes this coin even more rare is its great near-uncirculated grade and being graded and certified! As you can see from the pics the coin is in stellar shape. You almost never find CC Morgans, especially 1878's, in such high grade. All lettering, date, and that great CC mint mark are all nice and bold. The coin has all the original mint luster to it and has just a few tiny toning spots here and there. And with it already being graded and certified by NGC gives you confidence of its authenticity and high grade.
