Description
Update: ENGINE Confirmed rebuilt last year engine (and transmission): AES VR6 12V Eurovan Engine For Sale 1999/2000 VW Volkswagen eurovan models I think is the range. But any Eurovan/Rialta/Vista with a 12v AES should work fine. 1- the engine (and transmission) rebuilt within the year and it sure looks it. it’s super clean and has been high temp painted as it looks great compared to my other rig even after degreasing/cleaning mine. The van had a front end accident with a small tree at low to medium speed.. (tree didn’t blink.. but pot smoker surfer son ruined mom’s van. Their loss, your gain.) The accident didn’t even damage the quarter panels for reference. On the right (passenger) side it did damage two brackets for the air intake manifold (mechanic confirmed they are easily replaced or to use your existing). Those should be no big deal. The worst hit was one bolt hole on the water pump. my mechanic confirmed that he has seen much worse than that. And he is repairing it now via a specialist who does only that kind of work. via welding. I looked closely and determined it’s all superficial damage and should work great. He gave it a 5 out of 10 as far as welding difficulty. 2-Top end or engine looks great even cosmetically. $2200 for that if someone only needs only that. $1600 for the bottom half of engine. I will not clean it, that way you can see any minor oil drips yourself (looked fine to me) and consider if any gaskets need adjusting. Full disclosure is my policy to share as much as I know. I will try to find out who did the rebuild also if I can but the owner was no rookie at getting things done right, as the parent is sheriff I’m told by my mechanic also. 3-I will likely keep the transmission if I don’t get any decent offers on it rebuilt. No low ballers there.. you know what they are worth. $5k installed is low end, I’ve seen fools pay $11k for a rebuild more than once. (And put a damn $150 transmission cooler on it with the best flat and wide clamps you can buy especially if you tow anything at all. I know these rigs well.) I’m fine with giving a limited and partial value 60 day warranty on these parts because I cannot be 100% sure. But it will have to pass my mechanic, and my engineering muster and sniff test. I’d frankly prefer to find a eurovan or rialta that needs an engine if you have one. That way I can install mine. Priced $1200 under the going rate for a complete nearly “crate” engine.. (as opposed to just the “short body or long body” which is not as complete). No surprise core charge required.
