Description
Original Lobby Card (LC) (11”x14”) for 1943 Columbia Pictures romantic comedy “What a Woman!” starring Rosalind (“Ros”) Russell & vintage still photo (8”x10”) released by Paramount Pictures to publicize a very sophisticated, glamorous-looking Russell starring in the 1942 film “Take A Letter, Darling”. An unrestored & very well maintained Title Theater Lobby Card (LC) in fine to very fine condition from the original release of the 1943 Columbia film “What a Woman!” & a Paramount publicity photo still for 1942 film “Take A Letter, Darling”. The LC features the singularly best image I have seen of legendary film star & comedienne Rosalind (“Ros”) Russell. It has minor wear & tear with staining in the upper left border that extends very slightly into the background of the LC. Otherwise this LC is in absolutely terrific condition with excellent, vibrant colors & displays extremely well. The original 80+ year old vintage still photo is in very good condition & has a crisp, clean image of Russell in fantastic condition that displays very well. There are some tiny border defects & other minor marks or defects likely acquired thru handling. There are light "scuff" marks & tiny creases almost solely in borders. Please see images. Russell, who was nominated for 4 Oscars & won a Tony, starred in many Golden Age Hollywood classics including screwball comedy “His Girl Friday”, “The Women”, “Auntie Mame” & playing Rose in “Gypsy”. Besides comedic roles, Russell was known for playing dramatic characters, often wealthy, dignified, & stylish women. She was one of the few actresses of her time to portray women in professional roles such as judges, reporters, & psychiatrists. Russell's career spanned from the 1930s-1970s & she attributed this longevity to the fact that, although she had many glamorous roles, she never became a sex symbol.
