Description

PLEASE READ COMPLETE POST: Vintage 6” Craftsman 101.21400 metal cutting lathe made by Atlas (known as Atlas 618) in the early to mid 1960’s. It has a 4” 3-jaw chuck and can machine metal pieces as big as 6” in diameter up to 18” long. It’s powered by a 1/3hp GE motor (110v/220v) on a self tensioning motor mount making it super easy to change spindle speeds. The lathe sits on a custom made cabinet with a built in switch to turn on the lathe and one to turn on the light bulb inside the cabinet. Comes with a traditional lantern tool post with a straight, a left, and a right side tool holders. Also comes with a homemade center rest with extra fingers, a 4-jaw chuck, and a set of change gears. Now the bad…the lathe turns on and functions, but there is an issue with the pinion on the carriage/saddle not meshing well with the rack on the lathe bed. I have tried a few things and still couldn’t figure out how to solve the issue. It could be something simple or it could possibly be that it needs a new bed. The ways seem pretty worn so my thought it has something to do with that or them not being perfectly flat. So realize that this lathe will be a bit of a project or you can use it for parts, etc. I just don’t have the time to invest in it any longer. Because of this issue, I am asking $600 for the lathe on cabinet, along with the tool holders and center rest. The 4-jaw chuck is a $100 and so are the extra change gears making the total come out to $800. The extra chuck and change gears are optional if you don’t want/need them. Cash, PayPal, Venmo, and Zelle accepted. Located in Los Alamitos near the 405 and 605 interchange. Please check out my other listings
