It was $325 when I purchased it new. From the manufacturer: Remote Activation of AC When the RPC-120 is used in conjunction with any remote preamplifier or processor containing a low voltage control output, it allows your entire system to be turned on via the remote control. Of course, all Aragon and Acurus preamplifiers and processors have outputs to control the RPC-120's four switched outlets. Mechanical AC Control To maintain pure sine wave output the RPC-120 does not use solid state switching as do essentially all other AC line controllers. When the AC passes through a solid state switch the sine wave is converted into a series of steps, thereby eliminating the original sine wave required for music reproduction. In addition these solid state switches may be straining to provide full AC current to high powered amplifiers and restrict their ability to provide full power. The relay in the RPC-120 is capable of delivering 30 amps of current without alteration of the sinewave. Filtration The problem with virtually all other AC filters is that they pass the AC line output through components in an attempt to filter the original signal. These systems can alter the original appearance of the sine wave and restrict the flow of AC that your audio and video components require. The Mondial system of filtration, cleans the AC signal without altering the pure sinewave or restricting the AC line output in any way.
