Description

For local pickup in Saint Petersburg, FL only. A fine pair of Chinese hardwood arm chairs with custom cushions. Amazingly comfortable in a unique horseshoe form. All solid wood construction as shown. Likely Chinese - this pair of chairs may date to the mid-20th century or earlier and are in excellent overall condition. Seat height 12 3/8 in, 16 ½” with cushion. Seat depth 20 ¼” Seat width 20” Back height 28” 22" from front to back. 31" from outside of armrest to the outside armrest. Pierced and carved splat, paneled seat. The chairs are raised on square section legs with typical in-turned toes. The subtly shaped seat rails support the solid seat panel. The ox yoke armrests extend in a continuous sweep and arc downwards from the rest rail terminating in a blacksmith's pinch. The arms are supported by rests extending from the rear corners giving stability whilst offering visual appeal and adding interest to the form. The back splat in perfect proportions and gently curves for comfort and features an auspicious Chinese symbol in the upper section.
