MECHANIC’S SPECIAL. Please read the full description. SUMMARY: -Mileage: 98,000 -Clean title -Needs new key fob 5/14 UPDATE: -Please see car history below. We recently repaired the electrical issue and the car was working fine up until today when I noticed that sometimes it has some sort of electrical/power issues (start up, lights on dash that are normally not on, power windows being slow or not working, etc.). Other times, it runs and drives fine. -This car is probably best suited for a mechanic or someone willing to invest time/money into it. It only has 98k miles. First $4,900 takes it. --------------------- -You are welcome to inspect as there may be other issues we are not aware of. I am also willing to meet you at a nearby mechanic so long as it is close (Des Plaines/Niles area) and you pay for the inspection. Carfax is available for serious buyers. Detailed History: -Car was purchased used in June of 2022 -During winter of 2023, some drinks were left inside of the car in the front area (passenger and driver’s). The drinks froze and burst overnight and eventually melted back as into liquid which spilled around inside. The car stopped working after this, so we took it back for service and they were able to get it running well again. -The car worked fine after that, but it was not used much and we left it to sit for a while. Then, last year around May, the car had issues with starting and running. We took it to a mechanic who diagnosed a potential cause as being the alternator and battery, so we replaced those two. -The car ran fine for about 5 months or so, then it started to have issues again with starting up (around November of last year). 3/29/2025: We are able to jump it to get it started up and running. However, the car is prone to shutting off if you draw too much electrical power in the cabin (for example, using brights + windows + vent, etc. at the same time). 4/1: mechanic was able to diagnose a faulty wire and fixed it. The car now starts and runs fine. However, the mechanic also mentioned that there is a lot of rust on the underside of the car. 4/7: Car was taken to dealership for a recall repair. They also inspected the car and mentioned that the rust was normal for its age. They recommended repairing the right rear stabilizer link (which I later repaired at a different mechanic), to replace the wiper blades, some light bulbs (marker bulbs) and bulb cover, and some recommended scheduled maintenances like coolant fluid exchange, spark plugs, power steering fluid. 4/10: rear stabilizer links repaired/replaced at mechanic 5/7: taken to mechanic as car alarm would go off randomly. mechanic indicated that the key fob needs replacement. For the time being, I have removed the battery from the key fob.
