Description

Beautiful Whimsical Repurposed/Upcycled Hand Made Distressed Farmhouse Benches. Meet Miss Maple and Miss Hamilton. Each stands approximately 36 1/4 H x 40 L x 20 W In stature (17 3/4 Seat ). These unique pieces were both made hand- made built from scratch from two vintage bed head boards that I've been walking past for the last two years. That's how it all happens. I acquire and collect pieces over a certain amount of time, and it's as if a light bulb goes off, and suddenly, I'm inspired at that moment in time to take on the quest of working on them. It just happens. It's truly amazing. That's the only way I can explain it. So the thought here was when I did acquire them, I'd make them benches one day. That's exactly what you see before you. The head boards were firsr sanded and then painted in a white chalk paint called delicate white, which I might add is a very beautiful warm antique shade that resembles the old white colors of the past. In addition, they were painted with an old chippy brush. Then salt was put onto the paint so when it came time to distressing her, she'd have an old time feel to her. She was then sanded down, and her beautiful chippy aura came through. She showcases her gorgeous brown wood tones through the paint, and they balance each other so beautifully. Each bench was then fitted with a rectangular wood box seat built out of 2 x 4s. Each was attached, and then old antique legs that I acquired and collected along the way were cut and attached to the front, anchoring her base and giving her added charm. To finish her off, I deliberately searched for old pallets that I acquired at an old furniture store and stripped the wood planks off of them to give her an authentic old time feel to her. I could have easily bought wood at a store though chose to use wood that had old time elements and lots of character to them, making her feel as though she was older than she Is. I love their warm charm with irregular cuts, small gaps, dings, nail holes, and color, giving her depth. Matter of factly, the old holes that that once housed nails were used with 2 1/2 screws to hold them down tightly. They were then painted, and It brought her character out even more. They look lovely against her chippy distressed background and give her contrast and depth In her overall eclectic nature. She was then sealed and given layers of polyacrylic water-based top coat to seal in her appearance and provide protection and sheen. I love their mood, aura, and energy. They are rock solid, very sturdy, have a wonderful inviting appearance, and are comfortable with their large surface area to sit on them. Now, when I started this project, I envisioned them sitting on a front porch on both sides of the door. What a great presentation and curb appeal that would be. Though that doesn't have to be the case. They could be used inside in any room, along a wall an/or entryway/foyer/mud room. Physically, they have fantastic sentimental vibe and organic feel to them connecting you to the past in a captivating way. Love when pieces give off an aura that's liberating. Their visual presence projecting a time when people sat and enjoyed taking in their surroundings, reading a great book, sipping tea, and socializing. In addition, wanted to mention that these pieces, like stated in the title, were repurposed/upcycled with things that were around. I find that so Incredible because I think of those before me years ago who would make things and use things around them to make it. I instantly go to pieces like that. It's as If they have a soul to them. I'm so drawn to pieces like that. Maybe one day someone will feel the same and say that about these pieces, which give me goosebumps thinking about It. Miss Maple and Miss Hamilton would make great conversational pieces. They have great curb appeal and are great statement pieces to enhance any home decor. They have lots of warmth and sentimental aura about them. Very pretty pieces. You may buy one and/or buy both whichever you choose. Now when you look at the pictures, pay close attention to the staged items on them because I used two diffent staging setups to let you see the differences in both benches even though they are very similar and the same size in measurement. Thank you all for taking time to stop by the ad. Appreciate it. : ) 175/Each
