Description
1987 Toyota Sunrader Just remodeled and updated! Less than 10k miles on a rebuilt 22re (one of Toyota’s most reliable engines, some go 300,000mi+). Cruises comfortably at 65-70mph. Gets an economical 14-16mpg with regular driving. (Most motorhomes get only 6-10mpg). So you’re more likely to take it out and use it. Fun to drive and easy to park (only 21’ long - just like driving an extended van or pickup truck). 6-lug one ton dually rear end with like new D-rated tires make it safe and stable on the road. Rare, desirable rear dinette layout with windows on all 3 sides, and extra large window on the rear. Has the larger wetbath with both a toilet and a shower (toilet is in the shower so you can sit or stand while you wash). Privacy glass on bathroom window. Has a propane stove, oven, furnace, and water heater. Coach and cab AC both work great. No generator (but there’s a compartment for one of you want to add it). I never needed one, and used the space for extra storage. Sleeps 4 with a full size bed over the cab, and a second full size bed in the back (dinette table drops to convert into a bed). Passenger seat folds nearly flat if you need to accommodate a fifth person. Lots of new stuff... New spark plugs and wires New AC conversion and fill New ultra bright LED rear brake, turn, and reverse lights. All new LED interior light fixtures. 2 new 6” memory foam mattresses and bedding. New interior paint. New Danish wood oil treatment (3 coats) on all exposed wood and cabinet door trim. New long wear vinyl plank flooring. New USB and 12v charging station installed in sleeping area above cab. New wall organizer “bedside table” installed in above cab bed area so you have a place to hold charging phones and other items. New exterior cover for stove hood vent. New exterior entry light cover and soft white LED bulb New interior LED light fixture installed to illuminate steps and wall storage/shoe rack. New shoe rack/wall organizer installed at entry for shoe storage and quick access items. Resealed all rear coach windows with fresh butyl tape and Lexel New Thetford flush toilet New Oxygenics shower head New shower curtain in bathroom with hanging organizer/storage so you have a place for all your toiletries New vinyl tile kitchen backsplash New spice rack in kitchen New bamboo cutting board stove cover to give you more usable counter space. All metal hinged cover will also go with it. Fiberglass sink cover that matches table, with a table leg receiver mount so you can use it as a small table. This gives you more room in the coach than using the big table, and it’s perfect for when only 2 people are traveling. New LED light fixture in stove hood (wired to original switch) so you can actually see what you’re cooking. (Old incandescent fixture was very dim). New bright LED light fixture in closet that goes on automatically when the door is opened so you can see all your items. New hanging door organizer in closet for even more storage and easy access to your most used items. New light weight 5 drawer “dresser” mounted in closet so you can fit all your clothes. Can also be used as a dry food pantry. (Easily removed and replaced with a hanging rod). 2 New wall shelves mounted in closet for additional storage options so you have a place to stash extra toilet paper and things. New vinyl plank in closet to match floors New small helper shelf next to “dresser” in closet for additional storage. New door shelf/holder below sink for holding cleaning supplies New non-slip shelf lining in all cabinets and drawers so your stuff doesn’t slide and clank around while driving. New 6-way 110v/USB power unit in kitchen so you can charge laptops, phones and tablets. New 10 year LP gas alarm to keep you and your family safe. On/off switch in cabinet so you don’t drain the coach battery when not in use. New 10 year Carbon Monoxide alarm (battery operated) New 10 year smoke alarm (battery operated) New light blocking coach window curtains New light blocking room divider curtain New curtain tracks New light blocking curtains for wraparound windows in cabover bed New fresh water fill plate and tank hose New wireless 2-zone digital temp gage for refrigerator and freezer so you can see the temp without opening the fridge to check it (and letting out all the cold air). I can also include a new Bluetooth stereo head unit, a new 3” hitch carrier and new Dewalt lock box, new ratchet straps, new cargo bag, new rear view camera, and new dual-zone portable Dometic 90L compressor fridge (not included in sale price). One of the best things about this little RV is that it’s only 21’ long so anyone can easily drive it, and you can park everywhere - it fits in a regular parking space. It’s big enough to carry everything you need for a 4-person trip, yet small enough (and reliable enough) to drive anywhere. I took it from Chicago to the Grand Canyon and back in early October 2017 (about 3,400 miles total), and it ran like a top. Better mpg’s means you’re more likely to actually take it out and use it! What makes this unit even more desirable is the awesome extra large rear window - perfect for taking in the view of your favorite camping spots. Most rear dinette Sunraders have a window that’s only about half as tall as this one. The Sunrader is the most sought after of the small Toyota motorhomes due to its all fiberglass coach. In my opinion 1987 is the ideal year for these as it’s the first year with the steel-reinforced roof beams (so it doesn’t sag or collapse under the weight of the AC), the last full year they came with the bulletproof 4cyl 22re motor (later years switched to a less reliable 3.0 v6), and it has the dually 6-lug 1-ton rear axle from the factory (previous years had a 5-lug axle that was recalled as a safety issue due to some of them snapping under the weight of overloaded motorhomes). In short, this is the one you want. Reinforced roof. Bulletproof, more fuel efficient motor. Safer heavy duty 6-lug rear axle. The coach is constructed like 2 fiberglass boat hulls, sandwiched together with just one seam down the side. Yeah means no roof seams to give you leaks or problems like you see on most other stick-framed motorhomes, including many of the other Toyota’s (like Dolphin, Odyssey, and others). This is a great deal for anyone looking for a small, comfortable, reliable, affordable little camper that will hold its value for years to come. Demand for Sunraders is high, and since supply is limited they are one of the best investments you can make in an RV. Much roomier than most of the $100k+ Mercedes Sprinter -based RV’s at a fraction of the price, and it won’t depreciate 40% the moment you buy it. Would consider full or partial trade for a small shuttle bus or school bus in decent shape with low miles. Not in a hurry to sell so reasonable offers only please.
