It comes with an all-metal center leg brace/accessory tray to give rock-solid support to the mount. The tripod comes fully assembled with a metal plate, called the tripod head, that holds the legs together at the top. In addition, there is a central rod that extends down from the tripod head that attaches the equatorial mount or alt-azimuth mount to the tripod. It is easy to set up. To set up the tripod: · Stand the tripod upright and pull the tripod legs apart until each leg is fully extended. The tripod will now stand by itself. · To adjust the height of the legs, loosen the lever found at the bottom of each leg by rotating it counterclockwise. · Slide each leg out to the desired length and secure it in place by rotating the levers clockwise. Make sure the levers are tight so the legs do not accidentally slide inward when you add weight to the tripod. The tripod is compatible with many types of Optical Tube Assemblies, including but not limited to refractor, Newtonian, Edge HD, and Schmidt Cassegrain 6, 8, 9 1/4, and 11 inches. It can hold tubes of 30 lbs., three Counterweights, each 12 lbs., and Advanced VX telescope mounts of 18 lbs. capable of handling a 70 lbs. load. It offers a sturdy platform for any of the Advanced VX optical tubes, even when paired with optional accessories like StarSense AutoAlign, Focus Motor, a finderscope, and a camera.
