Description
Up for sale is a vintage Hondo 748 mark II from the early 1980’s. It has upgraded Kluson tuners, vintage Bill Lawrence L500 neck pickup and bone nut. This guitar was made by Samick in Korea (has the original X-14 bridge humbucker). One fingerboard inlay was replaced at some point, and it appears wood was used rather than MOP, it causes no playability issues, just cosmetic. This is a great guitar, with a very nicely flamed Maple cap. It sounds, looks and feels way better than any Les Paul copy that I’ve personally experienced. It has a sweet inherent sustain, and also great feeling and looking finish. This being said, I’m not much of an electric guitar player or Les Paul player and this guitar has been played very little since I’ve owned it. All the electronics work well, and it’s nicely set up. It weighs in at just under 10lb ( it’s a pancake Mahogany body, in the style of the Norlin era Gibson Les Pauls). There are no cracks, or major issues, though it has a few minor dings and scratches. The frets are in good shape, and it has the classic Gibson style binding nibs at the fret ends. It’s very nicely done. Also included is an Ibanez style vintage case, that may or may not be original to the guitar.
