Vintage Hemingray Aqua Blue Glass Insulator. Made in the USA. Patent May 2, 1896. The Hemingray Glass Company operated continuously from 1848-1972 and was the single largest manufacturer of glass insulators in the world. Vintage Glass insulators were first produced in the 1850s for telegraph lines, then for telephone and power transmission lines. They insulated and protected the wooden poles from the electricity coursing through the wires.
