Description
Last minute effort to adjust the gear that I'll be taking out and using on my Appalachian trail thru hike in about a week. This is my beloved military issued, olive green, ruck sack. Size is large. The frame, straps, and all mods are included in the total price. No holes, snags, rips or tears. All gear shown has been tested thoroughly, never abused, always stored dry and empty. The mods I added were for convenience' sake when hiking... or as they were when I last used it, hopping freight trains. This is arguably THE most debated bag of necessesity and survival. An absolutely unbreakable article of gear that goes wherever you can manage to squeeze thru while carrying it . Its also majorly a matter of tastes, preference and load out style whether this bag is TOO large. The more you fill it, the heavier it is.. those 2 cents are on the house. I'll try my best to answer any questions as fast as possible but l'll also try to fill you in all of the details of the bag here now. The first mod I added was the grab handle which is a simple hand-sized carabiner that was sold for hauling numerous grocery bags with one hand. Next I added a hip pack thats lashed in between the kidney rest and frame for immediately accessible items. When its on your back the hip pouch is virtually unnoticable. Right next to it, when the waist straps are fastened theres a cell phone/pen/cc holder attached to the strap. Frontside I added a military issued rifle cleaning pouch (minus the rifle cleaning contents) and a water canteen. Both are attached using the standard clips for fastening equipment. Last for mods I added an issued combat patrol pack. It's roughly the same size as a 3 day B.O.B. The straps are designed for various configurations according needs. It can easily hold a laptop, light coat and your favorite smoking rig all by itself and it can easily be removed if the need arises. All of these additional things can. The bag has previously been water-proofed last spring. I will treat it again prior to meeting up with anyone to sell/ trade. These bags are commonly sold for $150 with the shoulder straps and frame. Oh and the straps aren't a couple of cheap thin pieces of crap. They're the most comfortable design available for this gear. I'm willing to let it all go, as is, in trade for a more lightweight, less bulky option that will be better suited for hiking trails and mountains. The large ALICE by itself, w/o the frame and straps costs $50, then another $100 to complete the setup. I'll consider all cash offers that are within reason but anyone with the right stuff to trade can get it and all of the mods that I've listed here and shown in the photos for little to nothing at all! Let me know what you've got! Thanks for checking it out. Other things I'll accept got trade are outdoor sleeping systems, rated at 20° or lower (ground pad, liner and bivy for sleeping bag), camping hammock with cold weather quilt and mosquito net, water filtration devices, backcountry and trail gps devices, an ultralight 1-man tent.
