We have for sale here two varieties of Clumping Blue Bamboo, Bambusa chungii and Bambusa chungii 'Barbellata'. These are highly sought and hard to find bamboos. The main differences between these two cultivars are the heights, diameters of the canes, and the amount of space needed, as described below. Bambusa chungii (a.k.a. Tropical Blue Bamboo, Emperor's Blue Bamboo) grows 25 to 30 feet tall in Northern California. It grows fast and makes big fat canes up to 2.5 inches in diameter. We recommend you give at least a 4' diameter circle of dirt for each plant. The available plants include 2 gallon pots on sale for $85, 5 gallon pots on sale for $150 and 15 gallon pots for $295. The plants are in stock now. Bambusa chungii 'Barbellata' (a.k.a. Barbie Bamboo) grows 16 to 20 feet tall in Northern California. It grows fast and makes canes up to 1.5 inches in diameter. We recommend you give at least a 3' diameter circle of dirt for each plant. The available plants include a limited inventory of 5 gallon pots for $150 each. The plants are in stock now.
