Description

A Super rare, circa 1(contact info removed) plastic octave guitar designed by Mario Maccaferri, designer of the Selmer-Maccaferri guitar made famous by Gypsy jazz legend Django Reinhardt. These innovative, plastic guitars were meant to be playable, real instruments, not toys. Measures approximately 25” with a scale length of 16 3/8" (415.925mm). Comes strung with nylon strings. Mastro Disco guitar aka Mastro Gitarina aka Mastro Gitarina Disco. Beautiful condition. Item in photos is item you will receive. No returns. Sold as is. These are not intended as kids toys but to be played as real guitars. Iykyk Check out a brief History below! In 1966 the Mastro plastic line continued unabated with several new curious additions. Most curious was the Gitarina (No. 222), 25” double-cutaway hollowbody acoustic basically looking like a Strat with an asymmetrical three-and-three headstock. This had 20 frets, the end of the fingerboard cut in a groovy stairstep design. Soundholes were twin i/split ribbonize shapes. Summer of Love In 1967 Mastro enhanced the line once again. The Gitarina was the main focus of expansion. The Disco Cutaway Guitar (No. 352), basically the Gitarina with a small pickguard sort of surround on the lower soundhole, triple rectangle fingerboard inlays, and a fancier bridge with tailpiece.
