Yamaha EX5 Synthesizer - Rare 1998

Selling what is arguably one of Yamaha’s greatest ever synthesizers. Made in 1998, after the legendary SY77 and SY99, but before the Motif series, the EX5 is a synth powerhouse. Employing 4 different types of synthesis methods including AN (virtual analog), AWM2 (PCM samples), VL (acoustic modeling), and FDSP (Yamaha’s experimental FX processing per note), there is nothing that sounds as unique as the EX5. The condition of this particular board is very good - arguably excellent. There's one macro knob missing, though still functioning well and easily replaceable, along with a little bit of very hard to notice wear. Minus one chip on the bottom right corner (pictured), the side panels on this unit are still intact (most you find are cracked very wide open) and overall the entire keyboard is very clean. Rare to find in this condition and at this price. All keys, buttons, knobs, and wheels work perfectly. The keybed with its precise velocity and aftertouch response has a luxurious feel and is one of the nicest keybeds you’ll play on. The sound is warm and “alive.” Tons of movement, character, personality, complexity, and most importantly, musical quality to every sound this thing generates. Whether it’s ethereal morphing pads, thick synth basses, cutting leads, analog synth brass and strings, or pianos and other acoustic emulations, the EX5 executes them all with sheer class and is a true gem of an instrument.
