Bajo Sexto Quinto Hecho por Macias Tres original 1957

The Macias family of San Antonio is now in their 4th generation of luthiers specializing in making the finest bajo sextos and bajo quintos in the world. The owner says that his father had Martin Macias make this for him about 1957, but that his father was not a professional musician. The instrument does not have a lot of play wear as is usually the case with the older Macias bajos we've seen. There are a few dryness cracks on the back, but it is in very good playing and cosmetic condition. It is strung up properly for a 9 string tres. The neck and the frets look good, action is very nice with plenty of saddle. An historic and unique one of a kind instrument. From what I can gather it is made of domestic woods: The top is white pine with walnut back, sides, and fingerboard, and the neck is made of magnolia.
